CABARRUS QUILTERS’ GUILD
Guest Information
Welcome to the Cabarrus Quilters’ Guild. We are so glad you decided to visit.
The Guild currently has approximately 89 members who share a common interest in the art of quilting. Our members have varied levels of experience and expertise, so don’t feel like you have to be an expert to become a member of the Guild. Everyone is welcome and all of our members will be happy to share with you their love and knowledge of quilting.
We meet on the second Monday of each month. The meeting begins at 6:30 PM. Our meetings are held at Forest Hill United Methodist Church located at 265 Union St. N, Concord, NC.
As a visitor, you are invited to attend two meetings as a guest. If you give us your contact information, we will send you a copy of our newsletter for two months. After two visits we hope that you will be excited by what you see happening here and will decide to become a member.
The Guild operates on a full year calendar which begins in January. Membership dues are $30.00 per year. For those joining after the July meeting, dues will be prorated to $15.00 for the remainder of the year. There is a one time charge of $5.00 for your name badge. Our newsletter is delivered electronically by e-mail. If you would like to receive a hard copy of the newsletter via US Postal Service, there will be a $5.00 annual fee for this service.
We believe in giving back to our community, so we have chosen CVAN as our sponsored charity. Cabarrus Victims Assistance Network is a local organization which provides assistance to victims of abuse or neglect. Guild members are expected to make and donate a minimum of one cuddle quilt each year. You will also be asked to sell raffle tickets for our raffle quilt each year. A portion of the ticket sales is given to CVAN. If you or someone you know needs help to get out of an abusive situation, please call CVAN at 704-788-2826.
We work very hard to provide interesting programs during our guild meetings and to schedule workshops each month. Our speakers include well known area quilters and quilting teachers as well as members of our Guild. During each year there are a number of guild projects for member participation such as Block of the Month, Row by Row, Round Robins, Mystery Quilt, and Guild Challenges. We have a Show and Tell segment at each meeting for members to share their latest creations.
Finally, there is the Retreat at Tabor in Lynchburg, VA, which is held twice a year. The price is very reasonable and you get to spend time sewing, shopping, learning and eating with people that love to quilt.
Thank you again for visiting and we hope you decide to join us.
